Ring road needed to free town roads

Fiddling about with access roads to the Stanton site would be a waste of time and money and would do nothing to alleviate the traffic problems in Ilkeston.

The town is already gridlocked for much of the day.

For people to work — and spend — locally they must be able to get here easily.

In conjunction with the proposed revamp of junction 25 of the M1, a dual carriageway ring road should be constructed circling the town.

This would pick up Ladywood Road, Derby Road, Heanor Road, the Awsworth bypass, Nottingham Road, the Stanton site and back to junction 25,

Through traffic would be eliminated and it would be easy to get in, and out, using the above roads.

Expensive? Yes, but Ilkeston would be born again.

Don’t say it couldn’t be done, it must be done!
