Youngsters involved in Ripley-based community group Voices of Youth Community Rangers have been rewarded for their tireless work across the Amber Valley area over the last year.
Members from the Futures Homescape run club aged 11 to 15 were involved in a number of projects including numerous environmental clean-ups, caring for the vulnerable local residents and breaking age barriers with the elderly.
Lucky volunteers enjoyed three action-packed days taking part in everything from rock climbing to fencing at the Kingswood outdoor activity centre, in Dearne Valley, Doncaster.
The trip was organised not only as a thank you for their efforts but to recognise a recent award nomination from the Tenant Participation Advisory Service.
Sarah Whattam, community development manager at Ripley housing association Futures Homescape, said: “This was a great trip for everyone involved.
“The Voices of Youth Community Rangers do some really fantastic work. They give up their time to make a huge difference for our tenants and the wider community and they are great ambassadors for local young people.
“We were delighted the group was deservedly recognised with a nomination from TPAS recently and we all have our fingers crossed for next month.”
Voices of Youth is currently recruiting. If you are aged 11 to 15 and want to get involved contact Jenny Ball on 01773 573 147.
