THE HIGHWAYS Department has announced that roadworks around Ilkeston and Sandiacre will be lifted for the long Bank Holiday weekend.
Two miles of communication and horticultural works at junctions 25 and 26 of the M1 motorway – the two main access points for Ilkeston – will cease until at least 12midnight on Tuesday.
The approach to junction 25 on the A52 in Sandiacre will be free of one mile of roadworks – which are currently taking place to improve communications – for the holiday period as well.
Across the country a total of 148 carriageway miles of roadworks are due to be completed.
A further 44 carriageway miles of works are due to be suspended until the Royal wedding and May Day Bank Holiday period is over.
