I applaud the fact that the Ilkeston Quarry Road re-surfacing scheme has at long last been done.
This main route into Ilkeston looks as if it will finally be roadworthy and able to support the weight of a daily traffic onslaught! Local residents who have lobbied tirelessly for the repair will be absolutely delighted and I would like to offer my thanks to them for some persistent and public-spirited campaigning.
But this happy result has taken over two years in the making; delays cost money and the patience of local people has been sorely tried.
Tory led - Derbyshire County Council and Erewash Tory MP, Jessica Lee should be assiduous in responding to the concerns of the people they were elected to represent.
Safety is the top priority and the potentially disastrous delays we have seen over the Quarry Road repair indicate that the Tory administration have taken their eye of the ball and are no longer ‘fit for purpose.’
