Children look set to benefit from new play equipment at a Sandicare park if funding is approved.
Erewash Borough Council is set to give the go ahead to a £15,000 grant for new play equipment to be installed at the Hayworth Road play.
Councillors will decide on the proposal at a meeting of the council executive next week. They are expected to confirm the funding after receiving a request for support from the Friends of Hayworth Road Park.
Friends group members asked for grant support to buy and install a ‘jungle climber congo’ - a piece of play equipment which is particularly suitable for younger children.
The friends group was formed in 2010 and its members work with the council to develop the play area and have already carried out a number of initiatives.
These have so far included the planting of 550 saplings to form hedgerows; oak tree planting to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee; and the planting of thousands of bulbs around the open space and woodland area.
They have also created a new wild flower area, purchased an adventure trail and raised money at community events.
The council executive meeting will be held at Long Eaton Town Hall on Thursday April 9.
