Caught any of the first few episodes of new BBC drama Truckers, which is based in Nottingham?

Well, make a date for the coming few Thursday evenings and keep your eyes peeled.

For parts of the show were filmed in Cossall.

Many of the travelling shots used in the drama were shot in the picturesque village, just a mile to the east of Ilkeston.

The comedy drama, which features five one-hour episodes, got off to an explosive start earlier this month with a spectacular scene featuring star Stephen Tompkinson chasing his love rival’s car in a 44-tonne lorry into the heart of Nottingham city centre.

In dramatic footage the car flipped onto its side in Slab Square near to one of Nottingham Council House’s iconic lions.

Tompkinson’s character, Malachi, then climbs onto the top of the truck and strips off as a city-centre crowd cheers him on.

The show’s producers promised to show more of Nottinghamshire than has ever been seen on the small screen before.

Other filming locations included Hockley, Carlton, St Ann’s, Wollaton Park and Eastwood, where the trucking firm is based.

Stars include Ashley Walters, who rose to fame in Channel 4 drama Top Boy.

Writer Billy Ivory says Nottingham is in the ‘DNA’ of the series.
