A Langley Mill schoolgirl was among six children who had their designs to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee chosen in a contest.

Maisie Brooking, aged seven, of Langley Mill Infant School, had her winning design transferred to a plate by Denby Pottery after taking part in the Derbyshire County Council competition.

Primary aged children from 63 schools came up with designs to mark the Queen’s 60 years on the throne.

Of the 90 entries submitted, six finalists, aged five to 12, were chosen to have theirs transferred to plates.

Each child won a hand-painted keepsake plate for themselves and one for their school.
