THE COUNCIL has granted permission for a supermarket to sell alcohol in Long Eaton – before it has even been built.

Sainsbury’s wants to open a store on vacant land at 377 Tamworth Road – previously a petrol station, which has now been demolished.

Erewash Borough Council’s licensing committee gave permission for the as-yet unbuilt store to supply alcohol from 7am to 11pm, seven days a week despite objections from six neighbours.

The store does not yet have planning permission.
