Sisters Nicola Carter and Lucy Follon have set up their own business specialising in baby products.

The siblings, who both have young children, launched In The Present in October after initially discussing the idea four years ago.

Working from home they sell items such as nappy cakes, which are cakes make up of essential baby items such as nappies.

Nicola, from Langley Mill, said: “We had been talking about it for a while. and thought it would be nice to work together. This idea was born and it took over our lives in two months.

“We use nappies to create a tier effect and decorate them. We buy lots of different parts from wholesalers and create designs.”

They began promoting the business on Facebook and by handing out flyers at local fairs and festivals. Orders are taken online and make great gifts for any parents with babies.

Nicola said: “It’s a practical gift because you can use every part. When I had my little boy I had so many clothes given to me they he only wore once.”

The sisters both run the business as a side line to their day jobs.

Lucy, who lives in Smalley, is an early years classroom assistant and Nicola works for the Department of Transport’s accident investigation branch.
