Dad-of-two Daniel Bednall works at Tesco in Ilkeston and organised a recent community clean-up at a play area close to Abbotsford playgroup.

Where were you born and bred and where do you live now ?

I was born in Ilkeston and have lived here all my life. I live on the Shipley View Estate.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I enjoy creative writing, photography and visiting National Trust sights with my family.

What is your favourite film and why?

My favourite film is Dead Man’s Shoes’ Improvised, made in a very short time and a true labour of love. It is also made by Midlanders in the Midlands.

What is your biggest achievement in life?

My beautiful wife and children.

What are your hopes for the future of this area?

I would like to see more industry, retail, vibrancy and pride.

What is your favourite place to eat in Ilkeston ?

Emma’s Thai on Pelham Street is my favourite place to eat.

Where is your favourite local place to go on a day trip?

It would have to be Shipley Country Park.

What is your idea of a perfect Saturday night?

Staying in and eating steak is my idea of a perfect Saturday night.

If you could change anything in Ilkeston what would it be ?

I would like to see more jobs created and more shops open in the town.

What do you think your epitaph say?

I don’t know about that one, ask me nearer the time...
