A traditional family-run pub in Ilkeston has been voted the best pub in town by Advertiser readers.
Staff at the Queen’s Counsel on the Market Place were delighted to be handed the ‘pub of the year’ award.
Donald Cresswell, 23, is a manager at the pub. Also part of the successful team of eight are brother Tom, and sisters Charlotte and Chanel. Their dad Robert bought the pub eight year ago.
Donald said: “My dad has had the pub before I was even old enough to work here.
“We are very proud. I think it is down to everyone’s hard work that we won. We have a friendly environment and chat to all the customers - they are all like friends.”
He also said that their competitively priced drinks keep people coming back, with a pint of lager at the QC costing around £2.30.
Donald said: “We have had a lot of people say ‘I voted for you’ so we have put the award up on the wall behind the bar for people to see.
“We would like to thank everyone who voted.”
The Queen’s Counsel is open every day, with earlier closing times from Monday to Wednesday. It is open all day from Thursday to Sunday, until 11pm.
