Thumbs up to shed plan

COUNCILLORS have approved a controversial plan to build a shed on an allotment in Stanton-by-Dale.

Five villagers wrote to Erewash Borough Council to object about the wooden outbuilding, which will now be built on land adjacent to 1 Stanhope Street.

Neighbours were concerned the shed could cause an obstruction as it will open on to a public right of way.

Others complained that their views would be blocked by the 2.4m-high building.

Applicant David Peck, of 4 Pepper Lane, has been asked by the planning committee to submit samples of timber before it is built.
