One of Ilkeston’s most famous sons is currently on a movie set, filming alongside major Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman.
Robert Lindsay, who was born and raised in Ilkeston, is reprising a theatre role, which he brought to Derby recently and then took to the West End, for the film, Grace of Monaco, a biopic about famous actress Grace Kelly.
Robert, 62, will play tycoon Aristotle Onassis, which was the role he played in the play Onassis at the Derby Theatre in 2010.
Nicole Kidman stars as Grace Kelly in the film, directed by Oliver Dahan.
Oscar winner Grace Kelly famously gave up her glittering film career to become Princess of Monaco.
Robert also stars alongside well-known English actor Tim Roth in the movie, which is due for release at cinemas some time in 2014.
A note on Robert’s website said: “He is currently enjoying filming in the south of France.”
Robert was born in Ilkeston in 1949 and has maintained strong links with the town throughout his illustrious career in stage, TV and film.
