Tree stops homes plan

A PLAN to build two homes in Ilkeston, which was rejected by the council in February, has had its appeal dismissed.

A report by the planning inspector said that Dale Rudkin’s plan to build a pair of semi-detached houses on land south of 13 Derby Road would result in the loss of a protected lime tree and therefore could not be granted permission.

The report, due to be noted by councillors on Erewash’s planning committee last night, said that while the design of the houses was acceptable, ‘the benefits of the scheme would not outweigh the loss’.
