FRIENDS have teamed up to organise a charity walk which, since 1968, has raised more than £130,000.
Peter Clayton of Ilkeston and Keith Brown of Stapleford, were the driving force behind the latest nine-mile walk expected to raise £3,000 for leukaemia and lymphoma research.
More than 40 walkers took part in the walk which started followed a circular route taking in Ilkeston, Cossall and Trowell.
Mr Brown, a painting contractor, took on the role of walk co-ordinator following the retirement of stalwart Phil Harvey whose involvement began in the 1970s when the charity walk covered 20 miles.
