Traffic chaos hit Ilkeston on Friday as roads around the town became flooded.
The worst hit appeared to be Cossall Industrial Estate, where the canal burst its banks for the first time in six years.
Coronation Road looked more like a river and the fire service said it rescued four people from three stranded vehicles.
At least one business on the estate is thought to have been badly affected by flood water and Church Lane remains closed to traffic.
Derby Road through Stanley was also flooded, with drivers having to pass with extreme care.
Nottinghamshire fire service is currently attending flooding in Cranbourne Close, Trowell.
And Awsworth Road in Ilkeston steadily become more submerged as the rain has continued.
Police have said that Sowbrook Lane near Stanton-by-Dale is flooded and one reader told us on Facebook that residents are putting sandbags out in Kirk Hallam.
With more rain forecast and the River Erewash on flood alert, residents were advised to be extra careful this weekend.
