An 80-year-old man was airlifted hospital after he flipped his car on to its roof in Ilkeston.

The driver of a Toyota Rav4 hit a parked Mazda 6 while driving on Little Hallam Hill near the Bulls Head pub at 3.30pm yesterday - Thursday, February 9.

The pensioner was trapped inside the car and Derbyshire Police and Fire Service were on hand to rescue him and East Midlands Air Ambulance landed on the field at St Thomas Primary School to transport him to hospital.

A police spokesman said: “The male driver was the only person involved in the crash and he was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre.”
