Ilkeston folk turned out in their droves for the town’s 23rd carnival on Saturday.
The parade included five floats with themes such as We Will Rock You, Teddy Bear’s Picnic and Ilkeston Junction.
Sue Birch, from Ilkeston Lions, the group which organises the event every year, said: “It all went very well and there was a good turn out with a couple of thousand people coming and going throughout the day.”
The carnival saw a number of activities and entertainment taking place on the Rutland Recreation Ground, including a tug-of-war, a demonstration from the Long Eaton Militairres marching band, gymnastics from the Flying Dakos, and a performance from Dance Divaz.
Plans for the carnival began in November and it was made possible with the aid of grants from Erewash Partnership and the borough council.
Sue said: “We got home at 6pm on Saturday and we already had an email from someone saying how much they had enjoyed it.
“We have been organising the event for 23 years and will hopefully keep it going.”
She added: “I would like to thank everyone for coming and making it such a worthwhile day.”
Money raised from the carnival will go to the Laura Centre in Derby.
