WEST Hallam’s Christmas lights will be switched on this weekend amid a range of festive entertainment.
One lucky child will get the chance to join BBC Radio Derby DJ Andy Potter on stage for the switch-on at 6pm on Saturday.
Before that, there will be hot food and mulled wine served from 5pm and a magician to entertain children from 5.15pm. Ilkeston Brass will play Christmas carols and Santa will be greeting kids in the crowd.
Free mince pies, tea, coffee and orange squash will be served up to all villagers who turn out.
Village councillor Carol Hart said: “It is a lovely community event and we would like to see as many people there as possible.”
