Erewash Borough Council’s annual canvass of electors has achieved a record 95 per cent return from wards across the borough.

Residents must be on the Register of Electors to have the right to vote in elections and local authorities carry out a canvass every year to confirm and update the register.

The high return for the 2011 canvass which was carried out between August and October is reflected in all but two Erewash wards – Ilkeston Central, with an 85 per cent return, and Derby Road East in Long Eaton, which had an 86 per cent return.

Residents in the two wards who have not registered are being urged to contact the council.
