It was a tough decision but we can reveal that the winner of our Life Thru the Lens photo competition is Tracey Bunce for her striking picture taken of a sunset at Straw’s Bridge in West Hallam.

The team of judges agreed that the stunning shot had all the makings of a top-class photograph.

All ten finalists were invited to a presentation evening at Specsavers, on Bath Street, on February 19 where Tracey, from Kirk Hallam, was announced as the winner.

She told the ‘Tiser: “I was shocked. This was the first time I have entered.

“I was down there about two hours (at Straw’s Bridge) in September waiting for the sunset.

“I go out walking at night and have always got my camera in my handbag, it’s my little escape from being a full-time carer for my disabled daughter.”

Tracey, 46, who is a member of an amateur photographer’s club, won a state-of-the art Nikon digital camera.

The other nine finalists were presented with chocolates and their images in print.

‘Tiser Content Editor Jonathan Dodds said: “We were astounded by the quality of the entries and it really was a difficult decision to pick one winner from the final ten.

“As the contest is always so popular we hope to run it again this year.”

Krishna Parmar, store director at Specsavers in Ilkeston, helped to pick the winner and said it had been ‘a very hard decision’.
