Friday evening, September 20, I was called out to a road traffic problem on Corporation Road adjacent to the Triangle. When I got there it was quite obvious that the temporary traffic lights erected by Laing O’ Rouke on behalf of Severn Trent were stuck on red.
However, instead of the mayhem I was expecting to find, the traffic was flowing quite normally.
This was due to the selfless efforts of two young people who had taken it upon themselves to do their best and help in what could have been a very difficult and dangerous situation. They had rang 101 and advised the police accordingly, who in turn contacted Severn Trent who subsequently got the situation ameliorated. In the meantime these two young people advised motorists of the situation and directed them away from danger until help arrived.
I did not get the names of these two young people, a young lady and a young man, but I would like to thank them through this letter which I sincerely hope you will print.
