BOXING CLEVER -- Alex Reed (centre) receives the Ralph Smitheringale Trophy from Michelle Knight, grand-daughter of Ralph, and also Brad Knight, Ralph's great grandson.

Reed faced Derbyshire’s light-heavyweight belt holder Jack Hutsby, of Aldercar and Langley Mill, and took a split-decision verdict to win the Ralph Smitheringale Trophy after an outstanding fight that landed the bout-of-the-night award.

Trinity captain Kyle Hughes was another popular winner, gaining a unanimous decision after outboxing and out-hustling talented Coventry fighter Lewis Rafferty in the top-of-the-bill middlewight bout.

The club’s younger stars also showed promise, with Shay Molloy beating Dronfield opponent Edward Shaw, Alex Testro overcoming Ellis Orchard, of Oldham, and welterweight Sam Skidmore making a successful debut.
