Commanding batting and penetrative bowling were the ingredients for success that earned Nutbrook a crushing 135-run victory over Ilkeston Rutland in Division One of the Derbyshire County League.
Nutbrook showed no mercy on their relegation-threatened visitors, posting a total of 256-8 after a terrific knock of 89 from middle-order batsman Harry Thoman.
Skipper Steve ‘Sandy’ Sanderson also contributed with 46, as did opener Michael Chambers with 35 and, at the death, Alistair Hodgkinson with an unbeaten 24.
Rutland were then shot out for 121, which would have been considerably less without 66no from opener David Smit. All six Brook bowlers bagged wickets with man-of-the-match Thoman taking 2-16, Richard Henshaw 2-21, Matthew Wakefield 2-25 and Kashif Hussain 2-48.
