West Hallam White Rose
West Hallam’s firsts enjoyed a winning start with victory over Derby Congs.
Batting first, Hallam struggled initially and were 88-5 at one point, but James Lockhart (71*) and Lee Barrow (76) then produced a match-winning partnership of 154 to help the White Rose to 255-6.
Peter Hort (3-63) and Lockhart (2-33) made a few early inroads to reduce Congs to 67-5, before Carl Cruz’s 3 for 28 from nine overs helped reduce Congs to 167 all out and earn Hallam maximum points.
Hallam’s 2nd XI visited Belper Meadows firsts, and batting first had Martin Bostock (51) and Adam Wainman (65) to largely thank for getting them to 201-5 from their 46 overs, Josh Bostock also wading in with 35.
Belper were dismissed for just 141 in reply, Kristian Tingle utilising his pace to take 3 for 28.
Change bowlers Simon Walker (3-21) and Rob Lathbury (4-38) finished the job in style to secure 27 points.
The third XI were unfortunate to be facing the majority of Ambergate’s second team after their game with Pilsley had been cancelled, but Hallam’s bowlers were on song from the off.
The standout spell came from junior Jack Lee who took 4 for 15 as Ambergate were kept to 144-7.
In reply, Hallam struggled, Oliver Hubbard (27) and Rob Goulding (25) making starts but unable to convert them into match-winning scores, although a losing draw was secured as they managed to hold on and close at 111-8.
