Fight format set to make its debut

A NEW full contact fight promotion is set to be launched by a local kickboxing instructor later this month.

Stand & Deliver is the work of Jason Dorn, owner of Paragon Black Belt Academy.

As the name would suggest, it is a ‘Stand Up’ fighting show with bouts in kickboxing, boxing and the ever popular K1 rules.

Jason said: “Stand & Deliver is a format I have been bouncing around for a while, but the time is now right to launch and we have a great show lined up for fight fans right here on our doorstep.”

The first event in the Stand & Deliver series is named ‘It Begins’, with with a mainly novice ring fighter card.

The two main events on the card see a Derby-based fighter take on tough opposition from Leicester for the vacant Middleweight Midlands Area title.

Topping the bill will be Paragon fighter John Parry who faces tough Sheffield opposition for the vacant Pro-Am K1 English Title.

Jason added: “It’s a big step up for John to fight for a K1 rules title and he’ll be giving away experience, but he has a great approach to fight training and will be ready come fight night.”

As well as Parry, other Paragon fighters will also take part.

Mark Waterhouse has a full contact kickboxing bout with a very strong opponent from Nottingham, while Curtis Gillott also takes on a Nottingham fighter in what is set to be a great full contact rules demonstration.

Dan Wray has opted for a ‘hands only’ match when he takes on an experienced ex-army boxer over three rounds.

Russ Bramley faces an opponent from Walsall to full contact rules, while in one of two ladies light contact kickboxing bouts, Vicky Keane takes on an experienced opponent from north-east England.

Mr Dorn said: “There can be a tendency for promoters to give their own guys easy matches but that’s not what we wanted for our fighters or Stand & Deliver.

“Ours are evenly matched or giving away experience.”

‘Stand & Deliver - It Begins’ is on Friday, April 20 at Shipley Working Mens Club, Millbank, Heanor, and entry is strictly ticket only.

Tickets cost £25 and anyone interested can speak to Jason Dorn on 07974 027162 and also check out for up to date information.
