DERBY COUNTY BLOG: '˜Atmosphere at Cardiff City clash the best it's been in months'

Derby finally came up with the performance that the fans had been waiting for on Tuesday night with a great come from behind performance against Neil Warnock's Cardiff City.

The game attracted a reported 30k+ crowd and the atmosphere was the best that it has been in months for this clash.

There was very little between the sides in the first half, but a strike by Callum Paterson put the visitors ahead after Tom Lawrence saw a good opportunity saved by Etheridge minutes earlier.

I don’t know exactly what Gary Rowett said to the players at half time, but it certainly had an effect!

Cameron Jerome scrambling an equaliser and then Matej Vydra who had only come on as a sub a few minutes before, hitting a rocket into the nest before Jerome bagged a second to clinch the match in an exciting 20-minute spell.

What will please the Rams fans is the fact that for two of the goals, Sean Morrison was at fault and after his video rant at Derby players captured and shared via social media, regardless of banter, made him look a little silly.

The crowd played their part and were very noisy especially in the South and East stands. You give them something to make some noise about and they don’t disappoint.

We have destiny in our own hands and it’s quite possible that we may need only one win to secure a play off berth. Millwall and Brentford have a tall order if they are to win both their remaining fixtures.

I really don’t care who we play should we make the end of season battle for that final promotion place. All’s equal once again when the games kick off and all four teams will have a great chance to make progress.

We go to Villa Park on Saturday with this great win against Cardiff behind us and we must put in the same effort and show the same spirit as Tuesday night.

You never know with our team - we might even win!

Lose to the bottom two and win against second appears to be the Derby way!

Finally I will return to Cameron Jerome. All of us Derby fans have been quick to criticise the guy for not turning in tip top performances, but credit the guy for his efforts on Tuesday night.

He never stopped running all night and got his just rewards with the two goals. Also I suspect Gary Rowett was possibly feeling good about his performance too.
