Ilkeston’s Under 21s have been booted out of the League Cup for fielding ineligible players.
The Robins featured two unregistered players in their first round tie against Staveley Miners Welfare, which they won after extra-time.
A statement from the H-K-L North Midlands Development Football League said: “As per league rules the league committee has ordered that Ilkeston are removed from the competition and Staveley Miners Welfare have been reinstated.”
Ilkeston were due to take on Belper, at home, next Monday in the quarter-finals, but Staveley will now host the Nailers for the right to visit Sheffield FC in the semi-finals.
Club secretary Andrew Raisin admitted it was an administrative error: “It was due to be played in November but there were subsequent postponements and it was down to me as secretary to check more thoroughly. I thought they were both eligible.”
The other semi final will see Chesterfield FC host AFC Mansfield.
