A charity football match will take place at Ilkeston Town’s New Manor Ground on Saturday (5th) to raise money for Treetops Hospice Care.
In an event organised by young Robins fan Danny Draper, a Treetops team will take on Sandiacre Town with the kick-off at 3pm.
Refereeing the game will be Ilkeston footballing legend Gary Ricketts, while former club captain Matt Baker will turn out for Treetops.
Current Robins skipper Chris Shaw is also expected to play, while another former Ilkeston star, Ian Robinson, will also be taking part.
The clubhouse bar will be open from 2pm with music from Phil Matthews.
Elsewhere in the ground there will be a cake sale, raffle, guess the teddy bear name and a ‘how many sweets in the jar’ competition.
There will be half-time entertainment including a crossbar challenge which will see four people picked from the crowd to take part, and there will also be a penalty shoot-out featuring what organisers describe as a ‘surprise youth team’.
Aside from the guest players, Treetops’ team features players who have either been helped by the charity or who work for it.
Gates will open at 2pm and admission to the match costs £3 for adults and £1 for children, while under-12s will be admitted free in the company of an adult.
