Patience the key for Robins win

Steve Chettle said patience was key as Ilkeston Town eased to a 3-1 win at home to Heather St John on Saturday.

The Robins moved up to third in the league with the victory, remaining six points behind leaders Walsall Wood who have two games in hand.

And Chettle felt the points were deserved.

He said: “It was comfortable without being great.

“We were a bit slow to get going which has happened at times this season so I wanted us to do things a lot better in the second-half which we did.

“We needed to be better on the ball and more clinical in the final third.

“We’ve seen Montel Gibson score a superb goal and then Tim Hopkinson got one from a yard out - different kinds of goals from different kinds of players but equally as important.

“I was disappointed with the goal we conceded but in the end I’d have taken a 3-1 win beforehand so it’s job accomplished.”

Ilkeston now prepare to head to fellow title challengers Leicester Road on Tuesday night with Chettle adding: “We’ve gained points on them today as they lost but it’ll be another huge game for us.”
