Ilkeston boss Shaun Goater says he’s actively trying to recruit new players to the Robins squad as the club aims to avoid relegation.
Goater has been using his many contacts in the game to try and do deals to bring players to the New Manor Ground, with wins an urgent requirement.
And having identified exactly what kind of player he needs, Goater now hopes to bring them in.
He said: “I’ve made the point already that I feel we need more height in the team as a large chunk of the squad are 5ft 5in or shorter.
“We need to be better prepared for the physical battles as well as have the ability to adapt our play to suit certain pitches, so tall and also more physically stronger players are needed.
“I’ve been on the phone a lot. It needs to be young players we bring in given the ethos here.
“You can’t have too many loan players because they don’t have the emotional attachment to the club if they’re only here short-term and it can harm team spirit, but if we can bring in one or two in key areas it could help us no end.”
