ILKESTON FC Academy rounded off a superb debut season by winning the Central Conference Cup at the New Manor Ground.
They overcame an experienced Stafford Rangers 3-2 in front of nearly 200 fans to complete a league and cup double.
After going behind early on, Ryan Wilson levelled the scores with a glancing header before Tyrell Waite scored twice to seal the win. First he touched in after good work from Andrew Osei-Siribour, then raced clear to lift the ball over the keeper to make it 3-1 before Rangers pulled a late goal back.
Manager Kevin Wilson said: “I was disappointed with the first-half showing but they more than made up for it after half-time.
“They found some self-belief, started to pass the ball as we can and played some terrific football to turn the game around.”
