Kevin Cross wrote: “What a fantastic day out, although the Ilkeston FC lost this FA Cup encounter at Edgley Park.
“The players gave their all and were very unlucky not come away with the draw they truly deserved after hitting the post late on.
“They stuck to playing some really good football and defended brilliantly, with Stockport only having long shots for long periods.
“When the goal did come it was a well worked goal and a sloppy goal conceded.
“The old saying is that sometimes the fans can be a 12th man at these sort of games, well I certainly think so in this one.
“The tremendous support from Ilkeston never stopped singing for the players all through the match, even when Ilkeston went 1-0 down.
“It was great to see the flags and banners flying for the club behind the goal and even the stewards helped put them up. The stewards were great towards the fans a credit to their club.
“Even on the way home us Ilkeston FC fans were singing on the coach. It was a very proud day being an Ilkeston fc fan and i hope the players and staff feel proud of themselves in their efforts against a really good Stockport side.”
