Golfing festival all set to encourage more to take part

DERBYSHIRE Golf is following up its successful first golf festival in April with two more week-long campaigns to coincide with the Open Championship and the Women’s British Open.

The men will be battling it out at Royal St George’s from July 14, with the new golf festival starting across Derbyshire on Saturday, July 16, as the event comes to an exciting conclusion.

The women are in action from Thursday, July 28, and Derbyshire’s third and final festival will start on Saturday, July 30.

Clubs throughout the county are backing the drive to encourage more people to take up golf with a host of events and offers, like free taster golf sessions.

Derbyshire Golf are supporting the projects with financial grants towards the marketing, advertising and coaching for each event.

An open day will take place at Erewash Valley Golf Club on Tuesday, July 19 (6pm-8pm) which will include a tour of the club facilities and free coaching sessions for men, ladies and juniors.
