Long Eaton Swimming Club’s Hannah Cox was up against top quality opposition at the British Gas ASA National Championships last weekend.
The event at Ponds Forge in Sheffield saw Cox, 16, alongside swimmers already in the Olympic team and those still trying to gain selection.
Cox competed in the 50m breaststroke, clocking up a time of 34.72 seconds, just outside her Personal Best time.
Coach Spencer George, said: “I’m delighted with her swim and she is a credit to the club.”
Meanwhile, at the recent Midland Age Group Championships in Coventry, Long Eaton swimmers Elle Pryce, Kay Goulden, Francesca Muir-Harris, Krissy Tomlinson and Oliver Davidson were representing Derventio eXcel, where they now train full time.
Pryce, after 23 months with the Derbyshire Performance Squad, has already achieved National Qualifying Times and, along with Goulden will be a member of the girls’ medley relay team in action again at National Age Group Competitions at Ponds Forge in July.
Pryce reached the final of the 200mfreestyle and backstroke and took a bronze medal in the 100m freestyle.
Goulden took bronze in the 100m butterfly, while Davidson will swimming at the competition as a member of the Derventio boys’ medley relay team.
