A small group of swimmers from the Long Eaton Swimming Club Masters Squad made the long journey to Plymouth to compete in the British Gas Masters and Senior Age Group Championships last weekend.
They returned with a fine medal haul, including four golds.
Top performer was Helen Gorman (40-44 years age group) who won all four of those gold medals in the 50 metre, 100m and 200m breaststroke and 200 individual medley.
Gorman broke her own British records in three of the events and shattered a 16-year-old record in the 50m breaststroke.
She also took a silver medal in the 50m freestyle.
Maggi Tuck (50-54 years) won a silver medal in her first outing in the 200m individual medley, whilst Matt Leach (35-39 years) did the same in the 50m butterfly.
Leach also earned a bronze medal in the 100m butterfly and in the 400m freestyle.
Bronze medals also went to Elizabeth Simpson (40-44 years) in the 200m backstroke and Briony Johnson (25-29 years) in the 50m backstroke.
Masters coach David Akers commented: “These excellent results were fully deserved after six months of hard training by the squad.”
Long Eaton Swimming Club Masters Squad caters for all levels and ages of adult swimming.
