The final weekend of the British Gas Derbyshire ASA County Championships was that of the relay galas, and Long Eaton Swimming Club members were among those in action.
Swimmers look forward to these team events to try to prove they are the best in the county and the support for the teams is always fanatical as swimmers and spectators urge their team on to victory.
Leading the way were the girls 15/18 team of Josephine Parker, Tyler-Anne Black, Jessica Cross and Hannah Cox, who took gold in the 4x100m freestyle event and silver in the 4x100m medley.
In the open men’s events the team of Greg Cherry, AdamFreundlich, Callum Henley and Charlie Softley took silver in the 4x100m medley, and, with Steven Barratt replacing Charlie, it was silver again in the 4x100m freestyle.
In the 13/14 age group it was silver for Sian James, Elle Pryce, Megan Smart and Krissy Tomlinson in the 4x50m freestyle, and bronze in the 4x50m medley for Joshua Beech, Matthew Cross, Sam Frearson and Kye Hazelton.
Meanwhile, at the recent Junior and Youth National Disability Swimming Championships at Sheffield’s Pond’s Forge, Robert Abrahams, Gregory Cox and Alex King were in action, all achieving personal best times.
