Long Eaton swimmers Aimee Baxter, Jess Walker and Callum Henley put in some excellent early season performances at the recent Midland Short Course Championships in Corby.
Aimee led the way achieving personal best times in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke, breaking both club records in the process.
Aimee was also rewarded with a fifth place finish in the junior category of the 50m event, beating many swimmers from much larger programmes around the region.
Jess and Callum were also on great form, both achieving new personal best times or very close to.
Also competing were Kelly Towle, Livvi Sefton and Ellis-Jay Middleton, who train with the Derventio Excel Squad in Derbyshire, but retain their Long Eaton membership and compete for the club in local and county competitions.
There were also two teams in action in the National Arena League.
The A Team swam in the first division at Nuneaton, where new club records were achieved by Oliver Davidson (100m breast), Josephine Parker (100m backstroke) and Dave Sankey (100m breast) and were just three of the many highlights for the team in a very competitive gala.
The B Team were in action nearer home at Ilkeston in the third division where they finished fifth in a keenly fought contest.
With several swimmers having to swim up in age everyone performed well and the three wins on the night coming from the open age group - Andy Noyes in the individual medley and Liz Simpson in butterfly, with the ladies open freestyle relay team of Liz, Laura Marinelli, Keeley Musslewhite and Harriet Barker finishing with a flourish right at the end.
