LONG Eaton Swimming Club received a visit from a legend of the sport last weekend.

Five-time Olympian Mark Foster, visited Long Eaton to give a swim clinic that had been arranged by new masters coach, Dave Akers, to a group of Long Eaton’s Masters swimmers, aged between 18 and 65, and two pupils from Trent College, where the event was hosted.

Foster spent an hour with the swimmers in the pool giving tips and advice on technique as well as doing a number of demonstrations and the session ended with a 25-metre race against Long Eaton’s Pete Irving, who only finished 1.8 seconds behind the ex-GB star.

Foster then gave a talk on his career and handed round various mementos of his life in the pool.
