Ilkeston FC will head to Lancashire on Saturday hoping for a welcome win to boost their flagging play-off hopes.

They face Skelmersdale United in a rearranged fixture, the original game between the two sides having been postponed earlier in the season.

United are just six points outside the Evo-Stik Premier Division relegation zone, although they have games in hand on sides around them in the table.

Ilkeston meanwhile, have nine points to make up if they are to break into the play-off zone, teams currently in the top five also having games in hand.

The two sides last met on the opening day of the season when Skelmersdale overcame an early Marcus Harness goal to score three in the second-half and run out 3-1 winners, striker Lee Hughes sent off for the Robins.

Much has changed at Ilkeston since then and they’ll perhaps be more keen to replicate last season’s visit to Stormy Corner when they ran out 4-1 winners, despite going a goal down inside the first minute.

Skem haven’t played since February 2 when they beat Hyde United 2-1, Ilkeston’s last outing having been the 1-0 defeat at Blyth Spartans on Tuesday night.
