Get involved in the Sport Relief Mile

It’s time to dig out your running kit for Sport Relief.

On Sunday, March 23, the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile will be setting off from Shipley Country Park at 10.30am with hundreds of locals getting on their marks, set and go for Sport Relief.

Super sprinters and willing walkers will all feel at home with a choice of one, three or six miles.

You can enter now at, get sponsored and help transform the lives of people living in the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries, while being part of a nationwide event.

Amber Valley Village Games Officer Beth Turner said: “This is the second time the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile has come to Shipley so let’s don the headband, get training and show the rest of the country what we can do.

“There will be other activities on the day too so don’t forget to rope in your mates, family, boyfriend, girlfriend and colleagues!”

It will not just be the public who will be taking on the fundraising challenge.

TV presenter Davina McCall has pledged to go the extra mile in the BT Sport Relief Challenge: Davina – Beyond Breaking Point.

She will travel across the UK, all under her own steam – and all in the name of Sport Relief.

By running, swimming and cycling for seven solid days, Davina will hit the streets – and waters – of the UK in a bid to raise as much cash as she can and inspire the great British public to take on their own challenges.

On Friday, March 21, the BBC will treat the nation to a night of Sport Relief TV, then on March 23 it’s time for the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games.

The success of the event relies upon the goodwill of others. For more information on volunteering contact Beth on 07584 904519.
