Boxers from the Ilkeston-based Trinity Boxing Club were in good form at the Triumph show in Coventry on Thursday.
Heavyweight Dan Desachy maintained his unbeaten record with a convincing points win over Coventry boxer Ryan McDonald of the Christ the King club.
Dan, who is 20, dominated with his strong left jab, knocking back the head of the determined local man.
McDonald struggled to land a punch on the Trinity man, who moved in and out of range well and scored with good counter punches.
As he grew in confidence, Dan doubled up his jab and smashed big right hands into his opponent’s face.
He also targeted the body with left hooks but the game local boxer held on to hear the final bell.
The decision was a formality with all five judges voting for the Trinity prospect by a wide margin to hand him his second win in two weeks.
As for middleweight star Kyle Hughes, he was once again in a fantastic battle that entertained a packed house at the Triumph social club at their annual pre Christmas Dinner.
This was a boxing promotion in memory of their former club leaderTom McGarry.
Kyle, 22, once again boxed with courage as he tried to pin down the more experienced Lewis Rafferty of the promoting club.
Rafferty moved well and used sharp counter punches but the determined Trinity man pushed him all the way and connected with big punches.
The bout moved one way then the other as both men produced some exciting action that thrilled the crowd.
At the final bell, the result was close but the local man took a tight majority vote after a bout that could have gone either way.
