A late strike from Chris Marktin kept Derby County hot on the coat-tails of the top two in the Championship.
The vital finish in the 85th minute secured a 1-0 win over lowly Bournemouth and means the Rams are now just two points behind second-placed Burnley and five points clear of QPR.
It was a relieef for the home side and home supporters on a day when Derby were surprisingly flat and they could have found themselves behind on a couple of occasions in the first half when the visitors were the better side.
Former England boss Steve McClaren made changes at the half-time break and there was certainly more urgency among his troops.
However, it seemed they would haave to settle for a share of the spoils until Martin popped up with a piece of individual brilliance to superbly curl a 20-yard free-kick into the top corner and send the Rams fans home with another three points in the bag.
