LONG Eaton Swimming Club’s younger members began their campaigns in the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Junior League at the weekend.
The A team visited Bramcote where they came away victorious, winning at least half of the events on the programme.
They included both medley and freestyle relay wins for the 12-year-old boys (Matthew Cartwright, Joshua Beech, Joshua Langfield, Sam Frearson), the 12-year-old girls (Katie Sloan, Francesca Muir-Harris, Krissy Tomlinson, Sian James), the 11-year-old girls (Mollie Daniels, Beth Sharples, Esther Halford, Katie Sloan), the ten-year-old girls (Lana Dilks, Jennibel Hampson, Madison Walker, Jesse Jardine) and the mixed nine-year-old team (Matthew Luscombe, Lewis Tipping, Madison Walker, Jesse Jardine)
Individual wins went to Maddi Walker (2), Jess Jardine, Esther Halford, Katie Sloan (2), Joshua Beech (2), Matthew Cartwright (2) and Krissy Tomlinson (3).
The B Team were at Queens Leisure Centre in Derby where they had a tough draw but put in a spirited performance, fighting for every point.
Meanwhile, swimmers from all squads attended the Eckington Open Meet the following day, where everyone achieved personal best times and most finished in the top six in their events.
Nine-year-old Madison Walker was the only winner on the day.
