Ilkeston clay pigeon shooter Joe Booth has had another busy year which has resulted in him earning international recognition for the first time.
Having finished 2012 as county junior champion in the double rise, all round and automatic ball trap disciplines, plus East Midlands junior champion in down the line, double rise and handicap by distance, the 17-year-old then added county junior supreme and East Midlands junior supreme champion to the list.
So far, 2013 has seen Booth aiming to qualify for the England down the line team, and following selection shoots in York and Northumberland, and with Joe and his East Midlands team mates winning the team title, he has now qualified for the England Junior (U21) squad.
He will be one of five juniors representing England in ahome international in Ireland in July and then one of only three juniors who will compete in the European Championships in France in August and then the World Championships in New Zealand in early 2014.
His dad Andy said: “Joe is now looking forward to a full summer of shooting and hopes to pick up a few more titles along the way.”
