Time is running out for residents wanting to nominate their local sports star or unsung hero for this year’s Erewash Sports Awards . . . with the deadline just over a week away on Friday 25 September.
The annual awards honour the outstanding achievements of talented sports stars in Erewash and residents are urged to nominate and ensure the borough’s best are recognised.
There are 16 categories which include awards for coaches, volunteers, clubs, disabled participants, as well as juniors and senior competitors.
Winners from Erewash will go through to the Derby Telegraph Sports Awards and those shortlisted will be invited to attend the Sports Awards evening on 12 November.
Coun Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, said: “There is a tremendous depth of sporting excellence in our borough and what better way to recognise individuals, teams and clubs for all their hard work and achievements than nominating them for the Erewash Sports Awards.”
Nomination forms are available on the council’s website www.erewash.gov.uk – click on the ‘Culture and Leisure’ link and then ‘leisure news’.
