Freestyle skiers Justin and Ella Taylor-Tipton have been enjoying great success on the slopes once again.
The duo headed to the Manchester Chillfactore for the 2015 English Slopestyle Championships last Saturday.
Both qualified for the final, Justin in first place overall, with Ella first to take to the slopes.
After a slip in the first run only saw her score two points, her second was clear meaning she scored well and eventually claimed second in the U12s and third overall.
Justin suffered a fall in his first run, but also had a perfect second run which saw him crowned not only U16 champion but also overall English Slopestyle Ski champion.
The week before, 14-year-old Justin headed to the Air Attack dry slope in Christchurch, Dorset.
He had his heart set on winning the U16s category more than most, as having previously broken his own skis he was aware that winning would win him a brand new pair of Salomon Threats skis, even though this would mean competing his daring tricks on his existing damaged skis.,
Justin performed big tricks, such as the switch back flip he had learnt in November 2014, 1080 degree spins and more on the jumps, including a 1260 spin attempt he didn’t quite make. He also went all out on the rails with a switch 270 pretzel and back 360 swap.
With onlookers including Team GB’s Slopestyle Olympian, Billy Morgan, Justin shared the podium and took first place to win the skis he so needed.
Justin said: “I want to say thanks to The Snow Centre In Hemel Hempstead for letting me represent them.
“Winning the Salomon Threat Skis couldn’t have come at a better time!
“Mine fell to pieces and I finished the competition on broken skis.
“I really needed to win a pair of skis as mine were starting to die and I couldn’t afford to buy a pair.
“So winning the skis means I can continue with my love of the sport and follow my dream.”
