Belper pub plays host to David’s exhibition

A new site-specific sculptural exhibition by David Booth can be seen at the Bulls Head in Belper over the month.

Following a private view event tonight (Wednesday) members of the public can see the exhibition, entitled Pub Games, at the Belper Lane End-based pub.

This exhibition follows on from Booth’s critically acclaimed sculptural installation Pub Crawl, made with 100,000 beermats, exhibited at the Brewhouse Arts Centre in Burton-upon-Trent.

Talking about Pub Games, David said: “All the work I will be exhibiting has been inspired by pub games.

“‘Repercussions’ takes its starting point from the pool table. Subverting its original use I have turned it vertically into a canvas and, utilising the table felt, which reminds me of childhood felt art, I have hand cut felt ‘ripples’ and placed them on the felt background.

“‘This Will Be My Best Shot’ is derived from the pool cue. Thinking about trick shots, the sculpture represents the imagined inventiveness that the shot will need. ‘Take Flight’ takes its inspiration from darts, and then there are the marbles.”
