The Vauxhall UK Beatbox Championships is back and bigger than ever in 2011.
Set to take the beatboxing scene by storm for another year, performers throughout the UK will be in with a chance of taking home the UK title and a brand new Vauxhall Corsa SXi.
Beatboxing is vocal percussion involving the art of producing drum beats, rhythm, and musical sounds using one’s mouth, lips, tongue and voice.
Since 2007, Vauxhall’s sponsorship of the UK Beatbox Championships has shone a spotlight on the best of UK beatbox talent and for its fifth year running, the regional heats will be fiercely battled with the Midlands heat to be held at the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham on Friday, May 6.
The event gets under way at 8pm and the judges will be Archangel and Bass6 while the host on the night is Stig of the Dump.
There will also be music entertainment on the night from as-yet-unconfirmed performers.
Tickets are available from www.ticketmaster.co.uk. The grand final for this year’s eagerly-awaited contest is on Saturday, June 11 at London’s O2 Academy in Islington.
If you think you have what it takes to become UK champion and drive away with a slick Corsa SXi in a colour of your choice, complete with blacked-out windows, sports-style interior and impressive 16-inch alloys, it’s time to step up to the mic at the Vauxhall UK Beatbox Championships 2011 and accelerate into beatbox stardom.
