Dutch ace at club’s concert

Belper And District Organ And Keyboard Club is to welcome along an international keyboard entertainer to its next concert.

The group has now been active for 25 years and to help mark the occasion, there will be a performance by Dirk Jan Ranzijn from Holland.

Dirk, who comes from Alkmaar near Amsterdam, has appeared countless times on European TV shows and also has numerous CDs and DVDs to his credit, playing the Bohm organ.

His shows contain music from the classics across the decades to today’s chart hits and also West End shows.

This will be Dirk’s fourth visit to Belper and an entertaining evening is in store.

The concert is on Saturday, October 19, at The Congregational Church, Green Lane, at 7.30pm.

Admission is £5 for members and £7 for non-members (including refreshments).

n The next concert in the Classical Music Season 2013-2014 at Derby’s Assembly Rooms is to take place on Sunday, November 24, at 3pm.

This will be Sunday Afternoon Classics Concert, to feature Sinfonia Viva, and will be presented in association with Classic FM and Derby LIVE.

The Derby-based orchestra will be conducted by Nicholas Kok in performances of Schubert’s Symphony No 2, Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto , Weber’s Concertino in E Flat (Op.26) and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No 4.

The award-winning clarinet player Mark Simpson will be the guest performer.

After that, there will be a gap until the EuropeanUnion Chamber Orchestra’s visit on Tuesday, February 11.

They will be playing an arrangement of Holst’s Moorside Suite, plus Mozart’s Violin Concerto No 4, Sibelius’s Romance For Strings and Mozart’s Symphony No 40. The soloist will be star violinist Tasmin Little.
